Well, there is some good news regarding the H1N1 vaccine:
In the US vaccines there is no squalene at least for now. And just because it’s not in there now, doesn’t mean that big pharma won’t press for the addition of squalene in the future. Just be aware that European vaccines may contain squalene as an adjuvant.
There are four swine flu vaccines that have US FDA approval to produce the vaccine:
MedImmune; Novartis; Sanofi-Pasteur; CSL and GlaxoSmithKline
MedImmune (intranasal spray): a subsidiary of London based AstraZeneca
Ingredients include:
Live, attenuated virus
Monosodium glutamate (MSG is a known neurotoxin and excitotoxin
Egg Proteins
Sucrose (table sugar)
Dibasic potassium phosphate
Gentamicin sulfate (antibiotic)
(Just to note: intranasal vaccines do not contain thimerosal (mercury).
Novartis: Ingredients include:
Inactivated A/California/7/2009 (H1N1) v-like virus derived from cell-cultures using dog kidneys.
Single-dose vials contain 1 mcg of mercury per 0.5 ml dose
Multi-dose vials contain 25 mcg of mercury per 0.5 ml dose
Egg proteins
Polymyxin (antibiotic)
Neomycin (antibiotic found in many topical medications.) An is in the FDA pregnancy category D, which means that it is known to be harmful to fetuses.
Beta-propiolacton – a disinfectant which as no information available on long effects on humans and is therefore classified as Group 2B – possible human carcinogen
Nonylphenol ethoxylate (NPE) – a toxic cleaning agent
Sanofi-Pasteur: Ingredients include:
Inactivated A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)v-like virus from embryonated chicken eggs)
Prefilled pediatric syringes and single-dose vials are mercury free
Multi-dose vials contain 25 mcg of mercury per 0.5 ml dose (just like the Novartis multi-dose vials)
Formaldehyde (up to 100 mcg) – which is classified as a probable human carcinogen by the US Environmental Protection Agency and a known human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer
Triton-X 100 (Polyethylene glycol P-isooctylphenyl ether – a toxic detergent
Sodium phosphate
Sodium chloride – table salt
Gelatin
Sucrose – table sugar
CSL: (Afluria) Ingredients include:
Inactivated A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)v-virus from embryonic chicken eggs
Single dose vials are mercury free
Multi-dose vials contain 24.5 mcg of mercury per 0.5 ml dose
Polymyxin (antibiotic)
Neomycin (antibiotic found in topical medications) Classified by the FDA pregnancy category D – harmful to fetuses
Sodium chloride – table salt
Dibasic sodium phosphate
Monobasic potassium phosphate
Potassium chloride
Calcium chloride
Sodium taurodeoxycholate (detergent)
Egg proteins – ovalbumin
Beta-propiolacton – a disinfectant which according to the EPA there is no information about on the carcinogenic effects in humans. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classifies it as a Group 2B, possible human carcinogen.
