Yet Another Reason You Can’t Trust Drug Companies

Thanks to whistle blower  Cheryl Eckard one company was shut down. I’m sure you have seen the law firms advertising the dangers of drugs. Cheryl Eckard reported gross negligence at the Cidra plant which is one of Glaxo-Smith Kline subsidiaries.

Whenever money becomes involved greed takes over. This video is from CBS 60 minutes and was taped on January 2, 2010.  Thank you to Cheryl and everyone that speaks up when they find such gross negligence.

Thank you so much for publishing this frightening report about the drugs industry and it’s blunders. Even blind Freddie could see that there was a dreadful state” of affairs with the “Duty of Care” concept in that factory.
I’m still stunned by the casual way the Glaxo Exec in London just brushes off the PROVEN accusations and the HUGE (Millions) fine they had to pay.
I wonder what he would have to say should HIS Parents or his own family have taken some of those tablets and became ill because of it.
WE have to TRUST these people we dont have much choice. This clearly shows that they betray that trust.
Sorry, but these companies having to pay such fines isn’t enough to discourage this “SO WHAT?” attitude by the executives. Their companies (as stated by the FDA official) are making BILLIONS out of the Governments by KNOWINGLY distributing DANGEROUS products. They clearly DON’T CARE that they may make someone seriously sick, or even worse kill them.
My view is that such fiduciary penalties are useless regardless of how big the fine – they are just a flea-bite to a company with 80 or so factories around the world., and lengthy mandatory JAIL sentences & severe personal penalties such as confiscation of personal property etc. should apply to ANY company executive that Knowingly carries on business in such a way as these executives did. In the event that anyone were to die, they should be charged with Manslaughter or even Murder. This is the ONLY way that any form of control or policing of such an important industry is going to work.

Thanks for writing B.J.! I agree with you that this sorry state of affairs, which is everyday practice, needs to be stopped.
